The democratic platform of the propresidential Servant of the People faction has expressed public support for bill No 3260 which guarantees that bankrupt banks will not be returned to their previous owners (the so-called "anti-Kolomoyskyy" bill).A statement to this effect under the hashtag in Ukrainian which translates as #NoToDefault was posted on Facebook by Yehor Chernev, Yelizaveta Yasko, Mykyta Poturayev, Ihor Vasyliv, Ivan Yunakov, Oleksandr Marikovskyy, Andriy Motovylovets, Dmytro Hurin, Anastasiya Krasnosilska, Yelyzaveta Bohutska, Tetyana Tsyba, Lada Bulakh, Yevhen Petrunyak, Anna Bondar, Maryna Bardina, Vitaliy Bezgin, Vadym Halaychuk, Bohdan Kytsak and Viktoriya Pidhorna."Today, its adoption is the only chance for Ukraine to receive an IMF loan and avoid a default," they said. They fear that a possible default may have catastrophic consequences: investors will go, state assets will lose value, the hryvnya will collapse while inflation and unemployment will speed up.The bill in particular seeks to prevent tycoon Ihor Kolomoyskyy from reclaiming his former bank, Privatbank, which had to be nationalised by the state over debts.
