Parliament has passed amendments to the 2020 state budget of Ukraine to adjust for spending required for measures against the COVID-19 coronavirus and suggesting a threefold increase in budget deficit, up to 298bn hryvnyas.
Bill No 3279-d was backed by 249 MPs, predominantly from the pro-presidential Servant of the People faction.
According to the bill, the state budget revenues will amount to 975.8bn hryvnyas, expenses to 1,266bn hryvnyas, the deficit margin to 298.4bn hryvnyas and public debt to 2,387bn hryvnyas.
The increased deficit is planned to be covered using borrowings.
The salaries of budget-sustained workers will be capped at 10 minimum wages from April to the end of the coronavirus quarantine.
