The U.S. Embassy in Russia recommends that Americans withdraw from Russian territory without delay. The U.S. Department of State today published a statement to this effect.
"U.S. citizens are urged to leave Russia without delay, using one of the limited number of commercial options still available," the statement said.
U.S. citizens were advised to leave now "in view of the uncertainty of the situation in this country after the start of Russia's recent military action in Ukraine. The embassy also promises to update the information about the available routes every day.
"Those who want to leave Russia must consider taking the next steps to make their travel easier. Learn about commercial air routes through non-European directions. Currently, the most effective way to book your trip is to contact the airlines directly. Flight dates and availability vary greatly, depending on the airline. Flights remain available via the Middle East and/or Asian transit points of the major airlines", the statement says.
Before the start of the war, the U.S. Department of State recommended that non-key employees of the embassy in Ukraine leave the country, and later extended the recommendation to all American citizens and moved the embassy from Kyiv to Lviv.
