The world's largest media published a letter from 177 Nobel laureates supporting Ukraine, strongly condemning Russia's aggression and demanding an end to the war against Ukraine. This was announced by the Vice President of the World Jewish Congress, President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine Borys Lozhkin.
According to him, the collective appeal of scientists appeared in The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, The Guardian, Globe and Mail, Suddeutzche Zeitung, Haaretz, and other media.
"I am extremely grateful to the great scientist, poet, and humanist Professor Roald Hoffman, the Nobel laureate in chemistry. He managed to persuade more than half of all Nobel laureates living in the world to sign a letter in support of Ukraine," Lozhkin said on his Facebook page.
During the Holocaust, Cornell University (USA) professor Roald Hoffman, along with his mother and her brothers, hid under the roof of the house of Ukrainian teacher Mykola Diuk in the village of Univ in the Lviv region. After hiding for almost two years and wandering after the war, Roald went to school very late but quickly moved forward: he received a doctorate from Harvard at the age of 25 and the Nobel Prize at the age of 44. Professor Hoffman still stays in touch with the children and grandchildren of his rescuers and has responded to current events in Ukraine due to Russia's military aggression.
