The death toll from airstrikes by the Russian Federation has now risen to 2,187 in Mariupol.
It was reported by the Mariupol City Council.
"Every day Mariupol shudders from airstrikes by Russian occupants. Every day the city suffers from air raids by the Rashists. There were at least 22 bombings in a civilian city in 24 hours. About 100 bombs have already been dropped," - the report says.
The Russian occupiers continue to deliberately shell residential buildings and crowded places, destroy children's hospitals, and completely crush the city's infrastructure.
"Every bombing brings terrible destruction and takes away the main thing - the lives of peaceful Mariupol residents. To date, 2,187 Mariupol residents have died from attacks by Russia. They will be remembered forever, " - the mayor's office said.
City officials stress that the greatest threat to the 400,000 residents who are now trapped in the city comes from the sky. Therefore, closing the sky over Ukraine or providing the necessary air defense systems would help save hundreds of thousands of lives throughout Ukraine.
Today the head of the Vatican, Pope Francis made a statement in support of Ukraine in his public speech on Sunday, the anniversary of his election to the throne.
He called the actions of the Russian army "barbaric" during the siege and bombardment of Mariupol.
Mariupol is on the verge of a humanitarian disaster. There is no food or drinking water, and the occupants are blocking the lines for Ukrainian humanitarian convoys and are constantly shelling the city.
