The largest Russian-speaking BitTorrent tracker, which has nearly 14 million accounts and more than 2 million seeds, will not operate on the territory of the Russian Federation.
RuTracker will not be available in Russia even after the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) will unblock it, the representative of the service told the Russian version of the Forbes magazine.
According to this representative, the platform “under current circumstances does not support any actions of the Russian authorities.” The platform's representative clarified that access to the users from Russia will be blocked even if the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media will remove it from the register of banned services.
Earlier, the member of Derzhduma, Dmitrii Ionin, suggested unblocking the largest Russian-speaking torrent tracker after Sony, Paramount, Disney, and Warner film companies canceled the movie premiers in Russia.
RuTracker was blocked in Russia in 2015 by a decision of the Moscow city court. The reason was the complaints from the right-owners – the publishing house “Eksmo” and a music company.
