Mariupol citizens who escaped from the shellings of the Russian occupiers to Manhush and Melekine are dying from starvation.
Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of Donetsk Region Military Administration said about it on Telegram.
“Russian occupation government carry out the genocide of the Ukrainian people! Right now, thousands of Mariupol citizens who managed to escape from Russian air bombs are dying from starvation in captured Manhush and Melekine. This is a crime against humanity! - he said. - We require from the occupation government to comply with the rules of warfare and provide civilians with water and food, as well as to allow them to leave the combat area".
According to Kyrylenko, in order to save citizens, they need a “green corridor” from the Russian occupiers.
"I appeal to all world leaders - put pressure on the Kremlin! Do not let people die of starvation!" - he concluded.
Earlier, on Saturday, Mariupol City Council reported that the occupiers forcibly removed several thousand citizens of Mariupol to Russia.
On March 18, French President Emmanuel Macron urged Putin to cease the blockade of Mariupol.
Earlier, Deputy Mayor of Mariupol Serhii Orlov said that the city is now destroyed by 80-90%. The number of killed people has exceeded 2.3 thousand, but many people are still under wreckage.
Earlier, on March 9, Russia shelled a maternity hospital and a children's hospital in Mariupol. The next day, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Serhii Lavrov confirmed that the bombing was a conscious and deliberate decision by the Russian army.
On average, Russian occupiers drop between 50 and 100 air bombs on Mariupol per day.
