Ukraine has been protected from acute food shortages for at least two years.
Rostislav Shurma, the Deputy Head of the Office of the President, informed about it during the national telethon. He answered a question about the people who are afraid of an eventual humanitarian catastrophe caused by the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine, ZN.ua informed.
According to him, the reserves of basic products namely wheat, corn, sunflower oil are enough for 3-5 years. Previously, we always exported 70-80% of these products.
"Ukraine is provided with food now and for the next year. That's why we will definitely have enough food," Shurma said.
Earlier, Denis Shmygal, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, said that Ukraine would purchase the most important products directly from domestic manufacturers. The Cabinet of Ministers also instructed the local authorities as well as the National Police, State Food Service, Consumer Service and the State Medical Service to monitor the prices for a range of goods sold by retailers.
