The Financial Times: russia no longer demands "denazification," "demilitarization" and special status of russian language

According to available information, Russia no longer insists on its basic demands to Ukraine and is ready to allow Kyiv to join the EU if it remains non-aligned.

"Ukrainska Pravda" reports that this information was published by The Financial Times with reference to four people informed about the progress of negotiations.

The draft ceasefire document does not discuss russia's three main basic requirements - "denazification," "demilitarization," and the legal protection of the russian language in Ukraine.

"Russia's concessions are due to the fact that its ground attack, which has been going on for a month, has largely stalled as a result of Ukraine's resistance is fiercer than expected and due to Russia's operational problems," - the newspaper said. "But Ukraine and its Western supporters remain skeptical of Putin's intentions, fearing that the russian president could use the negotiations as a smokescreen to replenish his exhausted forces and plan a new attack."

Ukraine is negotiating with russia because it seeks peace without delay, - says Zelenskyy in his video address.

According to The Financial Times, within the considered agreement, Ukraine will also refrain from developing nuclear weapons or deploying foreign military bases and renouncing NATO membership. The next round of negotiations between Ukraine and russia will occur on 29 March 2022 in Istanbul.
