The German federal government has declared 40 Russian diplomats persona non grata.
This was stated by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, reports Deutsche Welle.
According to the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, a total of 104 Russian diplomats are accredited in the country.
“The photos from Bucha show the incredible brutality of the Russian government and those who support its propaganda,” the statement said.
“Therefore, the federal government has decided to declare undesirable a significant number of employees of the Russian embassy who worked here every day in Germany against our freedom, against the unity of our society,” said Berbok.
She also noted that Germany will strengthen sanctions against Russia and “dramatically increase” support for Ukraine's armed forces.
It will be recalled that Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki considers Germany the main drag on sanctions against Russia.
