Budget Deficit Now Amounts To Seven Billion Euros Per Month - Zelenskiy

The Ukrainian budget deficit in war conditions amounts to seven billion euros per month.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Ukrainian online media.

He noted that our partners are aware of such figures.

"They all know the sums: European Union, USA, Great Britain. You will be able to see how they support us by the end of the month," he said: - Ukraine will solve this situation. 

According to the president, the deficit of seven billion euros is due to the fact that the custom house and tax administration did not work normally, and business stopped. Moreover, Ukraine was forced to import large quantities of goods without customs - for the sake of food security and supplying the country with medicines.

Volodymyr Zelensky thinks that Ukrainians will return home and the economic situation will become better. Ukraine also expects help from donors.

At the same time, the president warned that "this aid will not last forever - only for a few months". 

"It is therefore important that the economy starts working," he added. 

According to the head of the government, Denis Shmigal, the state budget managed to be fulfilled by 110% in the first quarter of 2022. In the second quarter, the state budget is projected to be substantially under-implemented due to the Russian military invasion
