A senior spokesman of the US State Department said that the United States was working around the clock to deliver weapons to Ukraine at "unprecedented" speeds.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to CNN.

It is noted that since the beginning of the russian invasion, Joe Biden’s administration has authorized the supply of weapons and equipment to Ukraine in the amount of 2.3bn dollars from US reserves and another 300m dollars as part of Ukraine's security initiative, to buy weapons from manufacturers.

"This is certainly the largest supply to the partner country in a long time," the official said.

The Pentagon spokesman explained that it used to take weeks or months to issue a permit to send equipment from US military supplies to other countries. However, now it takes only 48-72 hours.

The process begins with a list of requirements developed jointly with Ukraine. The Defense and Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) then checks the available military stockpiles of weapons and equipment.

Next, on the basis of available US stockpiles, a set of weapons and equipment is formed, which is then considered by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Secretary of Defense then signs a memorandum approving the reduction of US stockpiles. After that, the President of the United States gives instructions on the reduction, and the Secretary of State signs it, and the Ministry of Defense - executes.

In the nearest future the USA will begin training the Ukrainian military with howitzers.

The United States and Ukraine are holding intensive consultations on a new package of military aid that will take into account the specifics of hostilities in eastern and southern Ukraine.

Pentagon officials have told The New York Times on condition of anonymity that they are discussing five possible supplies with arms manufacturers: air defense, coastal defense (anti-ship missiles), means of enemy infantry destruction, including Claymore mines, demining equipment and means of counterbattery control.

On April 13, the Pentagon unveiled the contents of a new 800m dollars military aid package to Ukraine, announced by US President Joe Biden.
