The Ukrainian side studies, compares and draws conclusions on the proposals submitted by russia, announced a member of the Ukrainian delegation at the talks, adviser to the head of the President's Office Mykhailo Podoliak in media comment, the press center of the Office of the President of Ukraine said.
"As for the negotiation process itself, Ukraine handed over its proposals to its opponents on formulaic solutions within the Istanbul round. In particular, on security guarantees as ensuring further non-attacks on our country," he said.
The russians studied these proposals and provided counter-positions, and Ukraine is currently reviewing them.
Podoliak added that the conclusions would be of a political and legal nature.
The last face-to-face meeting of negotiators from Ukraine and russia took place in Istanbul on March 29. After that, the conversations took place online.
According to the negotiator, adviser to the head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podoliak, the results of the meeting in Istanbul are legal guarantees that provide:
A new security framework for Ukraine (similar to NATO's fifth article),
Return of Crimea to the negotiating agenda,
Proof of Ukrainian statehood,
Beginning of the revision of global security principles and role of institutions.
Yesterday, Podoliak said that the siege of Mariupol by Russia has further complicated the negotiation process in the war in Ukraine, and it is difficult to say when direct talks can resume.
Earlier, the head of the negotiating delegation from Ukraine, the head of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arahamiya, said that the talks were difficult and neither side was willing to make concessions.
