934 settlements have been liberated from the russian occupiers - Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that 934 settlements have been liberated from the russian occupiers as of today.
He stated this in a video statement at the end of the 56th day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
"The return to normal life of the liberated cities and communities of Ukraine is underway. Already 934 settlements have been liberated. The police have resumed their work in 435 settlements. Local administrations have started working in 431 communities. Humanitarian headquarters began their work in 361 communities. We are gradually restoring people's access to health and education services and social protection agencies. We are renewing the road connections, the supply of electricity, gas, and water," Zelenskyy said.
The president said that the most serious threats in the occupied towns and villages are still the mines and wire traps that were installed by the occupiers, and the shells that did not detonate.
"It takes a lot of time, a lot of effort to remove them all. And I am grateful to all the craftsmen, all the rescue teams who carry out this important task. Once again I urge our people who return to the liberated communities to be very cautious. Do not enter the territory that has not yet been checked. Stay out of the woods. If you see anything resembling a mine or a rope, report it immediately to the police and security guards. Make no stay and do not try to remove hazardous objects on your own," Zelenskyy said.
He also said that the situation in the country's eastern part remains tough . The occupiers do not stop trying through a new large-scale attack to win at least some kind of "victory" for themselves, "at least something that they will be able to "feed" their propagandists.
"And I am grateful to every one of our men and women who defend our country and to all the Ukrainian Armed Forces, to all our towns and cities, to all our communities, who oppose the invaders. They persevere and, through their struggle, with no exaggeration, they are fighting for our country. Mariupol, Avdiivka, Marlivka, Krasnohorivka, Toretsk, Velyka Novosilka, Zolote, Popasna, Izium, Kharkiv, Gulyaypole, Mykolayiv, Vysokopillia, Snigurivka and dozens, dozens of other cities, our other eastern communities, communities of the south of Ukraine, in the fight that determines the fate of our nation, the fate of our freedom ", Zelenskyy said.
We would like to remind you that on April 18 , Zelenskyy said that the Russian troops launched the battle for Donbas, which they had been preparing for for a long time, and concentrated a significant part of their army for an offensive in the territory of Ukraine.
According to the RNBO, the russians want to fully occupy Donetsk and Luhansk regions by Easter. They intend to do so as a gift to Kremlin head Volodymyr Putin.
