Ms. Vereshchuk urged the world community to join the evacuation of the seriously injured people from Azovstal
Iryna Vereshchuk, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, urged the world community to join the arrangement of the evacuation of injured Ukrainian soldiers from the territory of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.
She mentioned this in an interview with the French TV channel BFMTV, the Ministry's press service informs.
Ms. Vereshchuk told about the critical situation at Azovstal. Defenders are still there, half of them seriously injured and in need of immediate medical care.
According to her, there may be about a thousand defenders on the territory of the plant. Hard battles continue there, the occupiers do not stop trying to storm Azovstal, inflict numerous air strikes. There was also an attempt at a ground special operation - the enemy is trying to kill all those who survived.
As a result of shelling by the occupiers of Azovstal, many people are seriously injured.
"We need a new special operation to help in evacuation of injured soldiers from Azovstal. The mission of the Red Cross and the UN is ready to join the evacuation process. And I would like to ask the entire international community to join it!" Ms. Vereshchuk said.
She noted that this requires the participation of leaders who have experience in cooperating with Russia and understand who Putin is.
"We need the help of the leaders in mediation to agree with Russia the guarantees for humanitarian corridor. This is a ceasefire, a place where the injured people will be evacuated," Ms. Vereshchuk said.
To remind, the Azov regiment showed the life conditions of the injured defenders of Mariupol and urged the UN and Red Cross to rescue people.
The National Guard informed that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the state leadership were working at finding the ways to evacuate civilians from Azovstal and at the"extraction" procedure for injured soldiers and medical personnel as well as with the help of the world community.
