MP Oleksiy Kovalyov has been declared a suspect in the case of treason and aiding and abetting the aggressor state.
The notice signed by Prosecutor-General Iryna Venediktova was signed based on the evidence of his cooperation with the occupiers in Kherson Region, the State Investigation Bureau has said.
The notice was issued in absentia since Kovalyov is in the occupied territory of Kherson Region where he was given a post in the occupying administration.
On 8 June, he made a social media post on the integration of the occupied part of Ukraine into Russia, seeking to manipulate public sentiments.
He faces a sentence of up to 15 years or for life.
Kovalyov was elected to parliament on the list of the pro-presidential Servant of the People. He was expelled when his cooperation with the occupiers became obvious. In June, a blast ruined his car but he survived.
