The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a draft presidential decree on the confiscation of 903 Ukraine-based properties belonging to russia, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said at a government meeting.

"As promised, we are appropriating russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. We do it systemically and in accordance with all procedures. We do not substitute the law with our wish, we accomplish this strategic task by legal means. Confiscated assets are converted into funds for our defence and reconstruction," Shmyhal said.

According to him, 79 items on the list are corporate rights and 824 items are property.

"The list has been compiled: these are hundreds of buildings, corporate rights, land plots and financial assets. All the property has been divided into three categories: the first category is the property owned by the russian state, the second category includes the assets owned by russian citizens and companies from Russia, the third category includes assets of russian banks," he added.

The prime minister pointed out that today's decision is the first step. The next step should be the confiscation of russian assets in the West.
