In the defence sector, Ukraine is already cooperating with NATO deeper than some of its formal members, which deserve the title of "Russia's main ally in NATO", Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has said on Facebook the day after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the application for accession to the alliance.

"We will continue to deepen the actual integration in the defence sector. After all, this is mutually beneficial cooperation. The might of the Ukrainian defence forces has already been appreciated by everyone. It is worth remembering that NATO is not only about defence, it is about common values. Ensuring the stability of democratic institutions, restoring trust in justice, reliable protection of civil liberties and human rights are also important components of NATO integration," he said.

Reznikov added that today we have a large arsenal of Western weapons, with which we successfully beat the Russian occupiers. He noted that 11 months ago, when he asked to provide Ukraine with Stingers, he heard in response that it was impossible. Everything has changed.

"Ukrainian people, Ukrainian defenders, Ukrainian authorities have made the impossible possible," he concluded.
