On the night of 9 March, the Russian army launched 81 missiles of various types and used eight Shahed-136/131 UAVs. Defence forces shot down 34 of the 48 cruise missiles and four UAVs.
As a result of organised countermeasures, eight X-31P and X-59 guided missiles failed to reach their targets, said Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyy.
The enemy carried out:
28 launches of X-101/X-555 air-launched cruise missiles;
20 launches of Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles;
6 launches of X-22 air-launched cruise missiles;
6 launches of X-47 Kinzhal air-launched cruise missiles;
8 launches of guided aircraft missiles: 2 - X-31P; 6 - X-59;
13 launches of S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles.
"The Ukrainian Air Force, in cooperation with units of other components of the Ukrainian defence forces, destroyed 34 cruise missiles out of 48 X-101/X-555 and Kalibr cruise missiles, as well as 4 Shahed-136/131 UAVs," Zaluzhnyy said.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the Russians had used over 30 aircraft and three sea-based Kalibr carriers for a massive night strike on Ukraine.
"The launches were carried out from ten Tu-95 strategic aircraft, seven Tu-22M3 long-range aircraft, eight Su-35 fighters, six MiG-31K aircraft and three Kalibr missile carriers in the Black Sea," the statement said.
"It is important to note that the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not have any means capable of destroying the X-22 and X-47 Kinzhal and S-300," the Air Force added.
The missile strike in Zolochiv District, Lviv Region, killed five people - three men and two women.
The rocket landed in a residential area, causing a fire. Two detached houses were destroyed.
The hits took place in Dniprovskyy, Pavlohradskyy, Kryvyy Rih and Nikopolskyy districts of Dnipropetrovsk Region. According to preliminary data, one person was killed, and two were injured.
Energy infrastructure and industrial enterprises have been damaged. There is significant destruction. Last night, defenders shot down seven enemy missiles over the region.
Over Mykolayiv Region, air defence units of the South Air Command destroyed nine missiles of various types, and over Chernihiv Region, air defence forces shot down one missile at night.
Explosions took place in two districts of Kyiv. In the Holosiyivskyy district, the enemy hit an infrastructure facility.
"Last night, the enemy carried out another massive air attack on Ukraine. The alert in the capital lasted almost 7 hours. During this time, the Russians fired almost all types of their air weapons - from Shahed barrage munitions to almost all types of cruise missiles. Thanks to the work of our air defence system, no cruise missile or UAV strikes on the capital were allowed. But unfortunately, a Kinzhal-type aerial ballistic missile (preliminary information) hit an infrastructure facility. All services are working at the scene. Liquidation of the consequences continues. Partial emergency power cuts are in place in the capital," said Serhiy Popko, Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
The second explosion occurred around 7 a.m. in the Svyatoshynskyy district. Three people were injured, and a car in the yard of a residential building caught fire.
In Odesa Region, the Russian army hit an energy infrastructure facility and residential buildings.
There were no casualties as a result of the shelling, and restrictions on electricity supply have been introduced.
Over Odesa Region, our defenders shot down six missiles and one drone.
The enemy launched about 15 attacks on Kharkiv and the region, targeting critical infrastructure facilities.
According to preliminary reports, a private residential building in Kharkiv Region was hit. Ground electric transport and the subway are not operating in Kharkiv.
Zhytomyr has no water supply after strikes by Iranian Shahed-136 drones, the city council reports.
As of 8:12 am, there were no casualties or injuries. "One of the energy infrastructure facilities was hit. Almost 150,000 customers have no power supply. Energy specialists have managed to power critical infrastructure facilities in the region. They will be able to start switching consumers to backup power lines as soon as the fire is extinguished," said Vitaliy Bunechko, head of the Regional Military Administration.
In Sumy Region this morning, the enemy launched a missile attack on Shostka (3 hits). One of the town's enterprises was hit. Residential buildings were also damaged. At night, flights of enemy Shahed UAVs were recorded.
In Zaporizhzhya Region, the enemy hit a critical infrastructure facility with four missiles last night.
The Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant is completely de-energised due to Russian shelling.
DTEK said that due to the enemy's attack, emergency power cuts are being introduced in Kyiv, Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipro regions.
The 15th massive Russian attack last night damaged three DTEK Energy thermal power plants. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.
