An air alert was declared in Kyiv and Kyiv region due to the fall of a NASA satellite, the press service of the Kyiv city military administration has said.
"Around 22:00 on 19 April, a bright glow of an aerial object was observed in the sky over Kyiv. According to preliminary information, this phenomenon was the result of a NASA space satellite falling to Earth," said administration head Serhiy Popko.
He added that the air alert was declared to avoid casualties from debris falling to the ground.
He pointed out that the air defence systems were not activated.
Earlier it was reported that on the evening of 19 April, an air target was spotted in the sky over Kyiv Region. Air defence forces were put on alert.
