The president started this Monday and the new week with an hour-long meeting with all levels of state and defence management - the prime minister, ministers, and the presidential office. The Commander-in-Chief, the heads of the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council made reports.
"The first issue is the consequences of Russian strikes, including missile strikes. Last night alone, from midnight to seven in the morning, we managed to shoot down 15 Russian missiles. But, unfortunately, not all of them. Not all of them. We are working with our partners as actively as possible to make the protection of our skies even more reliable," President Volodymyr Zeleskyy said in his evening address.
The parties also discussed the issue of weapons and ammunition, the situation in the still occupied territory and countering Russia.
Zelenskyy recalled the village of Lyzunivka in Chernihiv Region, where a Russian airstrike destroyed another Ukrainian school and claimed the life of a boy born in 2009.
Also in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk Region, Russian missiles claimed the lives of two people, and 40 more people were treated for injuries and traumas.
"For every such attack, the Russian occupiers will receive our response. And I thank all our soldiers who ensure this every day and every night. Those who defend our positions, repel Russian assaults, help their comrades in arms who are nearby on the positions, and destroy the occupier to the maximum. The more Ukrainian accuracy, the more Ukrainian mutual support, the faster the Russian evil will be destroyed," he stressed.
Zelenskyy also held phone conversations with Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau and Prime Minister of New Zealand Chris Hipkins.
"Today is the tenth anniversary of the founding of one of the glorious Ukrainian military units, namely the 140th separate centre of special operations. These are very skilled warriors - determined, strong and extremely experienced. They took part in the defence and liberation of Bucha, Hostomel, Borodyanka and other towns and villages in Kyiv Region, and Izyum and Chuhuyiv in Kharkiv Region. They carried out strategically important missions in the southern areas and fought hard against the occupiers in Donbas. Thank you, warriors!" the president concluded.
