If water consumption is not reduced, Kryvyy Rih will be left without water in three weeks, the head of the city's military administration, Oleksandr Vilkul, has said on Telegram.

According to the official, by cutting back on water consumption, "we have a chance to complete the implementation of water transfer projects".

He also answered the question of whether it was possible to schedule water supply, as it was with electricity: "I really like this option, it would be the fairest. But it is technically problematic. Electricity is when electrons run through the wires after the switch is turned on. Water means five rises, each of which accumulates water. It takes a day to drain the system, and two days to fill it again. This does not work from a button or switch. But now we are looking for a technical solution to ensure hourly water supply for all, albeit not in all districts."

At the same time, it is also impossible to provide the city with drinking water by drilling wells and creating pump rooms.

"The first is a small amount. Second, we have highly mineralised mine water underground, not clean water. We are already working on some wells, for example, the pump room in Ingulka (as it turned out, INGOK sold it back in 2001, and today we have just found the owner), but this will not solve the problem," explained the head of MVA.

Up to 800,000 people may lose access to drinking water due to the destruction of Kakhovka HPP. The main challenge for the areas affected by the flooding is soil contamination.
