After the attacks on the Olenegorsky Gornyak landing ship and the SIG tanker in the Black Sea, the Russian fleet no longer seems so invulnerable, Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, has told the news telethon.
"The activities that are direct consequences of the ruscists' invasion and occupation of Ukraine are ongoing. What they thought would work in their favour, namely their fleet, in today's conditions does not seem so invulnerable to other smaller but more modern means. Therefore, the occupiers cannot feel safe in all territories," Yusov said.
He added that it would be problematic for Rusisa to restore the Olenegorsky Gornyak landing ship, which was attacked by drones in the Novorossiysk Bay, in the near future.
"It was not built in modern Russia, the damage is very significant. Certainly, we will not see this Olenegorsky Gornyak in the near future," he said.
At the same time, Yusov did not comment on the condition of the SIG tanker hit in the early hours of 5 August.
On the night of 4 August, explosions were heard in Novorossiysk, and the Russian Ministry of Defence reported an attack by two unmanned naval boats. According to later reports, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted a special operation in the Novorossiysk Bay. A surface drone damaged the large landing ship Olenegorsky Gornyak, which was built in Gdansk, Poland, in 1976.
Last night, a naval drone blew up a large Russian oil tanker, SIG, which was transporting fuel for Russian troops, near the Kerch Strait.
