Between the evening of 5 August and the morning of 6 August, Ukrainian air defences shot down 30 cruise missiles and 27 attack drones. Russian troops also launched three Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles, but the Air Force will not release data on their downing.
During the first, evening wave, the Russians used 14 Kalibr cruise missiles and three Kinzhals. Twelve of the 14 Kalibrs were shot down, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Telegram.
"On the night of 6 August, the enemy continued to attack with Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs from the southeast, Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea and Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic aircraft from the Caspian Sea," the Air Force said.
The Air Force, in cooperation with the air defence of other components of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, destroyed all 27 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs, five of the six Kalibr missiles (second wave) and 13 of the 20 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles.
In total, Russia carried out 70 air strikes in several waves from the evening of 5 August to the morning of 6 August 2023.
The destroyed aerial targets included:
· 17 Kalibr cruise missiles
· 13 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;
· 27 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs.
During the evening and night attacks, Russia, in particular, targeted Khmelnytskyy Region. The air defence system was working. The JFO reported that there were no casualties. The blast wave damaged the roofs, doors and windows of several private residential buildings, smashed windows in a municipal cultural institution, a bus station and a commercial building.
