Ukraine and Sweden have signed a declaration of intent to jointly produce and maintain the production of Swedish CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has said at a press conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy said that the parties "detailed the agreement on the joint production of CV-90 in Ukraine, localisation of production, repair, etc.".
According to him, Ukrainian soldiers are already using the infantry fighting vehicles on the battlefield.
"It is very symbolic that the Korniyienko Brigade is now using your equipment - Swedish CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles. These are really very strong vehicles. And our soldiers praise CV-90s a lot. We are grateful not only for the fact that with the help of these vehicles, the guys are moving forward, but also for the fact that CV-90s help save lives," he said.
Zelenskyy also said that Ukrainian soldiers had started training on Archer artillery systems. The parties also discussed Gripen fighter jets.
"I am confident that Gripen can make our freedom much more secure. Gripen test flights with the participation of Ukrainian pilots have already begun. Today, we have discussed future steps on the possibility of opening the topic of receiving Swedish Gripens," the president said, adding that he would also discuss this issue with the head of the Swedish parliament and key party leaders.
