In the coming months, Denmark and the Czech Republic will provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with infantry fighting vehicles, battle tanks, heavy weapons and other equipment from Czech private companies' production and warehouses at the expense of the Danish government, reports Czech Ministry of Defence.
"Denmark and the Czech Republic have joined forces in a project that aims to support Ukrainians with modern weapons in the fight for freedom, democracy, and the right to self-determination against Russian aggression," the statement said.
It is noted that within the first part of the project, both countries plan to supply almost 50 infantry fighting vehicles and main battle tanks, 2,500 pistols, 7,000 rifles, 500 handguns and 500 sniper rifles, electronic warfare equipment, and more.
It is also reported that this form of cooperation will make it possible to continue military assistance to Ukraine not only in the coming months, but also in 2024 and, if necessary, in the long term.
The delivery includes both modern Czech weapons and refurbished equipment already in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The list was created taking into account the requirements and needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to enhance their combat capability.
The two countries plan to further transfer 500 heavy machine guns, 280 recoilless cannons, 7,000 anti-tank weapons, 10,000 hand grenades and 60 mortar systems to Ukraine. The delivery will also include a significant number of anti-drone systems.
