The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement, while considering a draft law on liability for violation of the rules of military registration and mobilisation, determined the amount of fines for citizens, officials and legal entities.
This was announced by the chairman of the committee, Servant of the People MP Serhiy Ionushas, in a commentary to Ukrayinska Pravda.
"Today, we recommended that the Parliament adopt draft law No. 10379 as a basis and as a whole with the committee's amendments. In particular, the committee proposed to exclude all amendments to the Criminal Code from the draft law, which means that there will be no prison terms for evading military service during mobilisation," the MP commented.
The fine for violating the rules of military registration in peacetime is 200-300 tax-free minimum incomes. If this act is committed repeatedly or during a special period (i.e. during martial law), the fine will be from 1,000 to 1,500 tax-free minimum incomes, which is UAH 17,000-25,500.
In peacetime, violations of the legislation on defence and mobilisation are punishable by a fine of UAH 5,100 to UAH 8,500 for individuals and UAH 17,000 to UAH 34,000 for officials and legal entities. In wartime, the fine will be UAH 17,000-25,500 for ordinary citizens and UAH 34,000-59,500 for officials of legal entities.
In addition, Andriy Osadchuk, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement, said in a comment to Ukrayinska Pravda that the relevant draft law would be considered in the parliament in the near future - after the draft law on mobilisation is adopted.
The original version of the draft law provided for criminal liability in the form of imprisonment for a term of 3 to 5 years for evading military service during mobilisation and refusing to undergo a medical examination.
In terms of fines, the original version of the draft law stipulated that violations of the legislation on defence and mobilisation in peacetime would result in fines of UAH 34,000-85,000 for citizens and officials, and UAH 153,000-204,000 during a special period.
