Another nuclear power unit came out of repair ahead of schedule. It was connected to the system on 23 August, the Energy Ministry said.
The unit will add 1,000 MW of capacity and stability to the power system and will allow not to impose power supply restrictions on consumers. The unit was taken out of service in compliance with all standards, said Minister Herman Halushchenko.
"Power engineers are really doing incredible things in this difficult situation to keep us supplied with electricity and heat. Another nuclear power unit has come out of scheduled maintenance ahead of schedule, but in compliance with all safety standards. Its connection will help to balance the country's power system and avoid electricity restrictions," he commented.
- After massive and deliberate Russian strikes on energy facilities in Ukraine, stabilisation blackouts returned this year. They were mainly in effect in June and July, but the situation improved at the end of the month after several units were taken out of service. This week, due to the heatwave, electricity was again restricted, but not as much.
