Thanks to special operations by Ukrainian defenders, around a third of Russian fuel sector facilities have been damaged or destroyed.
Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, stated this in an interview with CPJ, as reported by RBC-Ukraine.
“One third of the facilities [in Russia] are either damaged or affected to some extent. There are significant challenges with restoration, as sanctions have created major obstacles to importing the necessary equipment,” Yusov explained.
He also noted that sanctions and Ukrainian drone attacks have complicated Russia’s imports of fuel and lubricants.
“In terms of these strikes, they are not targeting civilian facilities. The focus is on oil refineries that supply Russian military equipment, sell petroleum products, and fund aggression against Ukraine,” Yusov added.
