In total, the film received six nominations, including “Best Documentary”, “Outstanding Writing”, “Outstanding Cinematography” and “Outstanding Editing”.

The awards ceremony took place on 27 and 28 May. Oleksandr Babenko, the film’s co-director of photography, and Michelle Mizner, the film’s producer, accepted the award on stage.

“Every day, Ukrainian cities come under attack, and civilians are killed by rockets and bombs. They take cover, shield their children, put out fires and fight back. That is what our film is about. It is about how, despite the attacks and despite the betrayal, Ukrainians have survived and are no longer victims. They have freedom of action, they have a voice. The reason for this is the people in our films. Thanks to them, it all hasn’t fallen apart,” Michelle said on behalf of Mstyslav Chernov, who was unable to attend the ceremony due to family circumstances.

2000 Metres to Andriyivka depicts events on the front line through the eyes of Ukrainian soldiers tasked with advancing approximately two kilometres through a heavily fortified forest to retake the village of Andriyivka near Bakhmut.

Director Mstyslav Chernov and his colleague, photographer Oleksandr Babenko, worked alongside the soldiers on the front line, documenting the unit’s advance under constant shelling.
