A Tu-22M3 strategic bomber has crashed in the Irkutsk Region of the Russian Federation. The incident occurred near the town of Svirsk on the banks of the Angara River.
This is according to the Russian Telegram channel Mash.
According to preliminary information, the aircraft’s crew managed to eject and survived. Local residents report seeing several crew members leaving the aircraft by parachute before it crashed.
Following the crash, the bomber came down on the banks of the Angara River, after which a fire broke out. A thick column of smoke rose above the crash site.
There is currently no official information regarding the cause of the crash.
