On 20 March, 32 shellings at Ukrainian Armed Forces positions were registered in Donbas. The majority of them, 28 were in the Donetsk direction, the rest were in the Mariupol and Luhansk directions.
After a relative calm and a decrease of the number of shellings at night on Sunday and till the afternoon, the militants became more intense after 2:00 pm, ATO HQ reports.
At about 8:00 pm, militants fired on the Ukrainian positions with a tank and fired 12 shootings near Avdiyivka, later on the shootings were from an infantry fighting vehicle, an anti-aircraft weapon and grenade launchers.
Enemy snipers fired near Avdiyivka, Zaytseve and Leninske.
The enemy fired on the positions near Opytne with grenade launchers of different systems, and with small arms on the strongpoints near Peski and Maryinka.
In Luhansk region, militants fired on the strongpoint near Trekhizbenka with mortars, and later on with grenade launchers and machine guns
At about 4:00 pm, a sabotage and reconnaissance group of five Russian mercenaries came up closer to the positions of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) area near Novotroyitske and fired on them with an automatic grenade launcher and small arms. The servicemen opened fire in response and made the mercenaries leave.
As reported by LB.ua before, two soldiers of the 39th separate mechanized infantry battalionin were killed having stepped on a mine near Avdiyivka in Donetsk region on Sunday.
