Over the past day, Russia-backed militants 22 times violated the ceasefire agreement in the area of the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas. Ukrainian military on 15 occasions returned fire. One ATO fighter was wounded in the shelling, the press center of ATO said in a Facebook report on 23 October.

The situation aggravated by the end of the day but completely controlled by the Ukrainian army. After 18:00 the militants continued firing at the positions of the ATO forces in all sectors using of infantry weapons.

In the Donetsk sector, militant groups fired grenade launchers and heavy machine guns at the ATO positions in the areas of Zaitseve, Avdiyivka, Kamyanka, Stanytsya Luhanska and Verkhnyotoretsk. The enemy shelled the defenders of Mayorsk and Butivka coalmine from heavy machine guns after dark.

Using heavy machine guns, terrorists shelled the positions of Ukrainian military near Krymske and Novooleksandrivka, Novozvanivka and Popasna in the coastal sector.

The enemy used grenade launchers against the ATO forces stationed near Maryinka and Starohnativka.

On Monday, President Petro Poroshenko announced in Avdiyivka the planned rotation of the 72nd, 14th, 92nd, 53rd Brigades.
