The situation in the area of the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas has aggravated over the past day. In the afternoon, Russian-backed separatist groups intensified fire provocations along the entire contact line. In a statement on Wednesday, 8 November, the press center of the ATO reported on Facebook that the militants 17 times violated the ceasefire. The ATO forces on 12 occasions returned fire.

In the coastal areas, militants fired 82-mm mortars and IFV weapons on the Ukrainian defenders of Hnutove. The separatists also used IFV weapons to shell the outskirts of Mykolayivka, Vodyane, and Berezove. One ATO fighter received a combat trauma in the grenade shelling of an ATO stronghold in the area of Novotroyitske.

In the Luhansk sector, Ukrainian army positions near Novotoshkivske were pounded from mortars.

After 18:00, terrorists groups continued the shelling of the ATO fortifications in the area of Krymske. They fired heavy machine guns and 82-mm mortars, and closer to midnight they for ten minutes fired the mortars of 120-mm caliber. In the shelling, two Ukrainian soldiers were killed, one wounded and another sustained a combat trauma.

From the occupied Donetsk, militants fired anti-tank grenade launchers at the ATO stron points in the area of Butivka coalmine.

A "DPR" ammunition stockpile in the area of Opytne was caught on fire over slack security measures.
