The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe has extended the mandate of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Ukraine until 31 March 2019.

"Mandate of @OSCE_SMM has been extended till 31 March 2019. Delegation of #Ukraine delivered its Interpretative statement, in which underlined that SMM must have full & unhindered access throughout Ukraine including #Crimea & #Sevastopol. Supported by all EU members, US & Canada," the Ukrainian mission to the OSCE and UN in Vienna tweeted.

All the EU member states, the USA and Canada supported this decision.

The OSCE SMM was deployed in Ukraine on 21 March 2014 at the request of the Ukrainian government to the OSCE and the consensus decision of all 57 member states. This unarmed civil mission has to observe and report in a fair and unprejudiced manner on the situation in Ukraine, especially in Donbas, and facilitate dialogue among all the sides to the conflict.
