The purchase of 55 helicopters for Ukraine's Interior Ministry and the State Emergencies Service from the French company Airbus Helicopters will cost Kyiv 475m euros. Ukraine will take out a French loan for this. The Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft loan agreement on 23 May.
Under the deal, Ukraine will raise 430m euros in bank loans and 45m euros in a treasury loan.
Contracts between the French supplier and the Ukrainian customer should be accepted for financing by 31 December 2019.
The plans to buy 55 helicopters were first reported in March 2018. The cost of the deal was not disclosed.
The Interior Ministry expects to receive the first helicopters as soon as this year. There are plans to buy such models as H145, H125 and H225.
