Ex-negotiator indicted for terrorism

Volodymyr Ruban, head of the Officer Corps Centre for Prisoner Release NGO, who is suspected of plotting a terrorist act against Ukraine's top officials, has been indicted, his lawyer Volodymyr Rybin has said.

He added that it was being decided which court would consider the case.

Ruban was detained at the Mayorsk checkpoint on 8 March as he was trying to enter the government-controlled territory in a van with a large stock of arms hidden in furniture. Ruban denied any knowledge of the arms.

MP Nadiya Savchenko was detained within the same case on 22 March 2018 after parliament lifted her immunity from prosecution. She is suspected of collusion to topple the authorities and preparation for attempts on the lives of the president, prime minister, MPs, aiding and abetting of Donetsk terrorists and illegal handling of weapons.

Ruban and Savchenko had until 20 January to study the case files.
