President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arranged that some of Ukraine's wealthiest businessmen will finance a number of projects.
He announced this at a meeting with the business community in Kyiv, according to Ukrainian News.
"I recently offered the owners of big business Rinat Akhmetov, Viktor Pinchuk and Ihor Kolomoyskyy - I haven’t met the others yet, they are hiding somewhere, but I’m going to meet them – that they take responsibility for solving specific issues. Mr. Pinchuk will provide 24 families of our detained [by Russia] sailors and will continue to care about social assistance to all servicemen. This is our agreement. With Mr. Akhmetov, we not only reached understanding about the abolition of the Rotterdam + [coal price] formula, but also agreed that he would invest in healthcare and in the repairs of roads and infrastructure in Donbas. Kolomoyskyy will invest a lot of money in the infrastructure of Donbas, but he doesn’t know about it yet," Zelenskyy said.
At the same time, he assured the business community that "he did not promise the oligarchs any preferences".
In total, according to Zelenskyy, more than 300bn hryvnyas is required to restore the infrastructure of Donbas and its reintegration.
Earlier, he said he expects big business to help Donbas to restore.
