On 19 June, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) searched the head of the village of Lazurne and former deputy head of the Kherson regional state administration, Yevhen Ryshchuk, and the head of the administration, Andriy Hordeyev, Slidstvo.Info has reported, quoting its sources.
Hordeyev confirmed that his house was searched by the SBU but did not explain why.
"I was travelling from Kyiv the entire night without sleep and then I see them with automatic rifles and masks," he said, adding that he is "open to any inspection".
The SBU press service refused to comment on the case.
Kherson activist Kateryna Handzyuk was attacked with acid on 31 July 2018. She died in hospital on 4 November.
Handzyuk's father said the mastermind of the murder was associated with Kherson regional council head Vladsylav Manher, Hordeyev and Ryshchuk. They denied the allegations.
In April 2019, President Petro Poroshenko dismissed Hordeyev from the post of the head of the Kherson regional state administration.
