President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Roman Semenchenko envoy in charge of supervision over the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Under ex-President Viktor Yanukovych,Semenchenko headed the Zhytomyr regional directorate of the SBU. Before this, he was a deputy head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional directorate of the SBU for two years.
He resigned from the SBU in 2016.
The SBU is headed by Zelenskyy's long-time friend Ivan Bakanov.
