The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has searched one of the offices of a security company affiliated with the head of the political council of the pro-Russian party Opposition Platform-For Life, Viktor Medvedchuk.
The SBU press centre said that the service had busted a private security firm involved in the illegal wiretapping and video surveillance of Ukrainian citizens. It sold printouts of telephone connections and closed databases to customers.
One of the co-founders of the firm was declared a suspect of the crimes described above.
Earlier, Bihus.info found that that people associated with Medvedchuk seized a hectare of land on Kyiv's Trukhaniv Island, having blocked public access to the Dnipro River. The recreation area was used as a training camp for a security firm.
The security agency Storm is owned by Ivan Boychenk and Viktor Chornyy from Medvedchuk's Ukrainian Choice. Chornyy and Medvedchuk were elected to parliament as members of the Opposition Platform-For Life.
Sotrm has been providing security services for Medvedchuk, his wife Oksana Marchenko and a number of their properties all over the country.
