Ukrainians will be evacuated from the Chinese province of Hubei, the hotbed of coronavirus, on 11 February, the Foreign Ministry has said.

"Due to the rapid spread of the dangerous coronavirus (2019-nCoV) throughout the territory of Hubei Province, the Ukrainian government decided to evacuate citizens of Ukraine from the said province, which introduced quarantine, to Ukraine. To this end, Ukraine is a special charter flight Kyiv-Wuhan (China)-Kyiv on 11 February this year," it said.

The evacuees from Hubei will be quarantined for 14 days in special institutions.

The acting director general of the Center for Public Health, Ihor Kuzin, said that the Health Ministry has proposed two possible places in Kyiv Region, where the evacuees will be kept in quarantine under guard.

"These are not medical facilities, these are sanatorium-resort facilities. There are proposals from the Defence Ministry of Ukraine, this is a third possible location," Kuzin said at a briefing on 10 February.

The final location will be determined after check.

A person will be evacuated only if they agree to be quarantined. So far, 51 people have expressed willingness to fly to Ukraine, including one child.

"But the number may vary," Kuzin said.

There can be from 150 to 200 citizens of Ukraine in Hubei Province, he added.
