The press service of the Ukrainian parliament informed that the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, requested to block all Visa and Mastercard payments both in Russia and abroad on all, without exception, cards issued in Russia and by Russian banks outside Russia.

On his Facebook page, Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that "by continuing to allow and process transactions in Russia, you will support the financing of war crimes by Russian Federation, which is now brutally killing Ukrainians and de facto committing genocide of our people."

"I am confident that this will contribute to the victory of the democratic world over the bloody and senseless authoritarianism that we are all witnessing now," he added.

On 1 March, Visa blocked access to the payment system for the sanctioned Russian banks. The cards issued by these banks will stop working abroad and in foreign online stores.
