Humanitarian aid convoy sent to liberated Trostyanets

On 26 March 2022, Trostyanets in Sumy region was liberated from Russian occupiers; a convoy of humanitarian aid was sent to the city.

The Head of Sumy RMA (Region Military Administration), Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, announced this news in Telegram.

"Today, our Trostyanets and Boromlia were liberated by the UAF (Armed Forces of Ukraine) together with city residents. We bow low to the local, territorial defense forces and to all those who helped liberate the Trostyanets and Boromlia. As soon as the militaries permitted the civilians to enter the city, we went there with a humanitarian convoy. We brought essential medicines to people, grocery kits, hygiene items, baby food, and diapers," he wrote.

The Head of Sumy RMA noted that there is almost no means of communication means in the city. Therefore, tomorrow the information on the distribution of humanitarian aid will be spread the following way: rescuers will drive around the city with a loudspeaker and inform people.

"Together with the chaplain and local volunteers, we will distribute humanitarian aid to those who need it most," Zhyvytskyi said.

The Head of the RMA emphasized that many facilities in the city, including the hospital, remain mined. He warned residents to be as careful as possible and report suspicious items to our military.

"For tomorrow, we have organized the evacuation of people who lost their homes to safer places. We will also evacuate the injured who need medical help. The employers of energy and communal services and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine will be able to start their work properly after demining places," he said. "My uncle lives in Trostyanets. I still don't know what happened to him ...", Zhyvytskyi added.

The Head of the RMA published a video of the road at the entrance to the city, which shows the destroyed enemy military vehicles. On 26 March 2022, the Ukrainian military 93rd Independent Kholodnyi Yar Mechanized Brigade, with the help of territorial defense and local guerrillas, liberated the city of Trostyanets from the Russian occupiers. The 93rd Brigade managed to expel from the city the "elite" of the Russian ground forces - the Kantemirov (4th Guards) tank division.

While fleeing, the Russian military left weapons, equipment, and ammunition. The Ukrainian army will use those to liberate other Ukrainian cities from occupation.

On 22 March 2022, a large fire broke out in Trostyanets; people could not extinguish it for long due to battles.
