The EU's response to Ukraine's future status as an EU candidate is expected in June. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced this in his video address after 75 days of the war. "Today, we have taken another step - a crucial and not just formal one - on our way to the European Union. Ukraine submitted the second part of the answers to a special questionnaire to be completed by each country that wants to be part of the EU. It usually takes months and months. But we did everything in a few weeks," - said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy thanked the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, for setting up a trust fund for Ukraine's reconstruction and implementing sanctions against russia.
The President emphasized that due to the port blockade in Odesa visited by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, dozens of countries in different parts of the world are on the verge of food shortage. Over time the situation could get worth significantly, which is a direct consequence of russian aggression.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also met the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Maria Peichinovych-Burych, in Kyiv. She also visited the Kyiv region, including Borodianka and Irpin.
