russia will cut off gas supplies to Finland on Saturday. This was reported by The Guardian with reference to the Finnish company Gasum.
In a letter to Gasum, Gazprom said that the supply will end on the morning of May 21.
«In the afternoon of Friday, May 20, “Gazprom Export” informed Gasum that natural gas supplies would be cut off on Saturday, May 21, at 4:00 GMT. The company will continue to supply gas to consumers in Finland from other sources through the Balticconnector pipeline», the statement said.
The CEO of Gasum, Mika Vilien, said the company has prepared for such a development.
«We have carefully prepared for this situation and, provided that there are no interruptions in the gas transmission system, we will be able to provide our consumers with gas for the coming months», she said.
Finland refused to pay russia for gas in rubles two days ago. Earlier, for the same reason, the russians cut off gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria.
