Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk has urged residents of Kherson, in particular, women with children, elderly, sick and people with limited mobility to evacuate to safer cities for the winter period.

According to her, there are security and infrastructure problems in the city.

"The government offers free evacuation to Kryvyy Rih, Mykolayiv and Odesa, with possible further relocation to Kirovohrad, Khmelnytskyy or western regions of Ukraine," she said.

She explained that Kherson residents would be provided with free accommodation in shelters, humanitarian and medical assistance, food, assistance in obtaining IDP certificates and appropriate cash payments from the state and international organizations.

In order to state their intention to leave the city, Kherson residents can contact the hot line of the regional state administration or the round-the-clock hot line of the Reintegration Ministry, contact the chatbot of the volunteer organization Helping to Leave or sign up in person at the Punkt Neslamnosti on the central Freedom Square in Kherson.

After the de-occupation, Kherson residents were offered voluntary evacuation. However, most people prefer to stay in the city. Currently, it has about 80,000 residents.

The day before, Russians shelled a humanitarian point in the region during the distribution of bread. As a result, five people were wounded.
