Currently, there are 11,000 personnel of the army of the Russian Federation and more than 400 units of weapons and military equipment of the occupying country at the Belarusian training grounds, said the Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Brigadier General Oleksiy Hromov during the briefing.

"The situation along the state border of Ukraine with the Republic of Belarus remains controlled and stable. The enemy keeps upgrading its preparation level, conducting exercises at the Belarusian training grounds, where there are currently up to 11,000 personnel and more than 400 units of weapons and military equipment of the occupying country," he informed.

Gromov added that as of 29 December, the group of Russian troops deployed in Belarus, Bryansk and Kursk regions of the Russian Federation is half the size of the group that was involved in the attack on Kyiv in February this year.

"22,000 against 45,500 occupiers," said Hromov.

Therefore, even in case of involvement of all combat Belarusian military units from the ground forces and special operations forces, the joint grouping of the aggressor's troops will number about 30,000 thousand people.

Russia has already taken out all the weapons and ammunition that were brought to the territory of Belarus before the full-scale invasion. Currently, Minsk has limited capabilities to provide ammunition to the offensive group of troops from its territory.

"The possibility of involving the armed forces of Belarus in the war in Ukraine directly depends on the ability of the Russian Armed Forces to advance in the Donetsk area, as well as on the activity of the Ukrainian Defence Forces," said Hromov.

He added that Russia is expanding its control over military airfields in Belarus. Work on additional equipping of Machulishchi, Baranovichi and Luninets airfields continues. In particular, Machulishchi is planned to be turned into a key hub for the needs of the Russian army.
