Interceptors designed to counter jet-powered Shahed drones, developed by two companies, have successfully passed combat trials. During the tests, they managed to destroy enemy drones travelling at high speed.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this while speaking to the media alongside the leaders of the “Carpathian Eight”.

Ukraine now wants to see the results of all the trials in order to determine how to speed up the process as much as possible and move to mass production of these interceptors.

“We are talking with these companies; contracts are already being signed. I believe this is a success. These two examples already give optimism, positivity and confidence. But in addition to confidence and optimism, money is still needed. We will deal with this issue,” the head of state explained.

The President also said that the day before he had spoken with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. They are due to meet in the near future, and the Ukrainian side is preparing proposals to address the funding shortfall.

  • The day before, after a meeting with Commander-in-Chief Mykhaylo Drapatyy, Zelenskyy reported one positive result from trials of interceptors against jet-powered “Shaheds” — during testing, they managed to shoot down an enemy drone.
