The Supervisory Board of JSC “NNEGC Energoatom” has decided to terminate Pavlo Kovtoniuk’s tenure as acting chairman and member of the company’s Management Board. This is stated in an Energoatom statement published on 22 September.
Oleksandr Ostapovets has been appointed acting chairman. He will lead the company until the new permanent Management Board takes office.
“The decision concerning Pavlo Kovtoniuk was made following the Supervisory Board’s assessment of the implementation of its decisions and instructions. Based on this assessment, the Supervisory Board concluded that it had lost confidence in Pavlo Kovtoniuk’s ability to ensure the proper implementation of its decisions and to continue leading the Company during this critically important period,” the statement said.
Oleksandr Ostapovets is to ensure stable management of the company as it prepares for the heating season.
Earlier, competitive selection processes selected Yurii Tkachuk as the successful candidate for chairman of the Management Board and Pavlo Pavlyshyn as the successful candidate for Management Board member responsible for nuclear safety and operations. Both are currently completing the regulatory and corporate procedures required for their official appointments and assumption of their respective responsibilities.

Pavlo Kovtoniuk previously headed the Rivne NPP. He was appointed acting chairman of the Management Board last year in August following the dismissal of Petro Kotin.
